The Bangalore Rural district administration is all set for the Lok Sabha elections on April 17.

The district, comprising the four taluks of Doddaballapur, Nelamangala, Devanahalli and Hoskote, is part of the Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha constituency.

Deputy Commissioner V Shankar told reporters that the constituency had a voter population of 7,49,025, including 3,67,611 women. The administration will deploy 5,300 polling personnel, besides the police, at 1,032 polling stations for the smooth conduct of the election.

Liquor and money

With illicit liquor and black money posing a big challenge, the district administration has directed its personnel to keep an eye on all the liquor shops across the constituency and the vehicles coming from outside the State.

Shankar said about 8,000 retail liquor shops would be under strict watch.

“I have directed the flying squad members to write ‘checked and cancelled’ on the permits of liquor consignments coming from outside the State so that it cannot be used again,” he said.
