JOIN USInfy co-founder among country's richest candidates
Nandan Nilekani , Infosys co-founder and Congress candidate for the Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency, is one of the richest candidates in these elections.
On the eve of his filing the nomination papers, he declared on Thursday that he and his wife Rohini have assets worth Rs 7,700 crore.
A release from Nandan Nilekani’s media team said, “Most of our wealth, almost 80 per cent, remains in Infosys shares.” He says that he still owns 1.45 per cent and Rohini 1.3 per cent of Infosys shares.
Nilekani, who is taking on BJP’s Ananth Kumar, is filing his papers at the office of the returning officer in Jayanagar.
Moily poorer than wife
Former chief minister Veerappa Moily is poorer than his wife Malathi, if one goes by the affidavit of assets and liabilities that he submitted along with his nomination papers as the Congress candidate for the Chikkaballapur seat.
While Moily, who is also a Union minister, owns movable properties worth Rs 1.39 crore, that possessed by his wife is worth Rs 48.19 lakh.
He does not own any immovable property, the affidavit states, but his wife owns immovable property worth Rs 11.02 crore. Moily has outstanding loans of Rs 14.17 lakh and his wife Rs 3.8 crore.
DVS’ assets double
The assets owned by former chief minister and BJP candidate for Bangalore North D V Sadananda Gowda and his family have nearly doubled in the last five years, as per the affidavit filed by him on Thursday. In 2009, Gowda had shown that the total assets owned by him and his family is Rs 5.69 cr. This time, the assets of the leader and his family are worth Rs 9.87 crore.

accounts, fixed deposits, investments, jewellery are worth Rs 4.15 crore, while his wife Datty owns assets worth Rs 58.16 lakh.
Simha worth Rs 55 lakh
Columnist Prathap Simha, the BJP candidate from Mysore-Kodagu constituency, has total assets worth Rs 55.85 lakh. Also, he has liabilities of Rs 43 lakh.
His wife J S Arpitha has assets worth Rs 7.36 lakh. Simha owns a 30x50 site at Saptagiri Nagar in Bangalore worth Rs 48 lakh. His wife owns a 60x40 site allotted by Mysore Urban Development Authority at Vijayanagar. It’s current value is Rs 3 lakh.
