Gas price hike may be deferred

With the Election Commission looking into the government’s proposal of doubling gas prices from next month, there is a strong buzz in the national capital that the poll watchdog may defer the decision for two months. This will mean that the newly elected government would take a decision in this regard.

As the hike in gas prices will lead to an increase in the cost of production of fertilizer and power, the EC is of the opinion that any decision would have a greater impact on the common man. The EC will announce its decision soon, sources added.
