Cops claim leads in woman's murder case

The police claim to have collected credible leads in the murder of a home-alone elderly woman who was strangulated to death for gain at her second floor flat at an apartment in Rajarajeshwarinagar on Saturday. 

The police took four persons into custody and are interrogating them.

“We are verifying the details that the security guard gave us, of two persons who gained entry inside the flat and came out six hours later,” DCP (West) Labhu Ram said.

The police suspect that it could be a murder for gain as a pair of bangles is missing. The police are verifying the mobile phone call details of the victim to ascertain the background of the accused. They would solve the case very soon, Ram said.

The victim’s daughter and relatives came to the City from Chennai and shared information with the police. They suspected that the murder was committed by persons known to the family, police said.

Rama Doraimani, 71, a resident of Shubhodaya Enclave, was found murdered at her flat. She hailed from Chennai and was staying in the flat alone for the last one year.

The security guard told the police that a woman and a man came to her flat around 8.30 am on Saturday. They went out after six hours, he said.
