<p>Disgruntled Congress leader Jaffer Sharief has written a letter to JD(S) president H D Deve Gowda, wishing him and his party good luck in the Lok Sabha elections.<br /><br /></p>.<p>In the letter dated March 30, from Medina in Saudi Arabia, where he is on a pilgrimage, Sharief said, “I am writing this letter from Medina to convey to you that we have prayed for you, your family and your party both in Mecca and Medina, for a thumping victory in all the seats in Karnataka.”<br /><br />JD(S) leaders and candidates are now hopeful that Sharief is likely to return to the State and campaign for the party after April 10. <br /><br />One candidate stated that if Sharief campaigns for JD(S), it will help the party create a dent in the Congress votebanks in Bangalore and to a certain extent, across the State. <br /><br />Sharief backed out from contesting on a JD(S) ticket from Mysore constituency at the last minute, sending the party into a tizzy. It has now fielded former Upa Lokayukta Chandrashekaraiah there.</p>
