BBMP polls may be notified today

Sources in the Election Commission told Deccan Herald that the election dates are most likely to be announced on Monday. The sources denied to give dates but indicated that the elections dates may be close to the last week of January or the first week of February. The Election Commission had long back showed its preparedness to hold the BBMP elections.

The Commission bought 9,000 new EVMs from the Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). It got the voters’ list ready, identified the government officers and employees as election staff. The Police Department has assured deputing the forces for smooth conduct of the elections.  The Commission has claimed that it is ready with other necessary paraphernalia.
