Yeddyurappa promises support to sainik welfare

Speaking at the Armed Forces Flag Day celebrations held at the Raj Bhavan here, the Chief Minister said: “The sacrifices made by our armed forces in defending the country have no parallel. The government will do whatever necessary to extend all cooperation for the welfare of the families, including education of their children.”

He also appreciated the services and valiant deeds rendered by the armed forces during times of communal disturbances and terrorist attacks. The CM reminded the citizens  having a secure life is because of the services of valiant soldiers and hence it is not only the government’s responsibility but also the responsibility of every citizen to ensure the welfare of the soldiers.

Home minister, V S Acharya in his address assured war bereaved families of required help from the government.

Governor H R Bharadwaj, released the armed forces flags and souvenir and gave away Flag Day awards.

Every year, December 7 is celebrated as Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country. Many senior serving and retired officers of the defence forces, including the Director of Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Col (Retd) C M Uthaiah, were present on the occasion.
