The ACP, Anand Kumar, had allegedly demanded money from one Narayanaswammy who owns one acre of land near the airport.

A court had directed the ACP to investigate a civil dispute pertaining to the land. Initially, the ACP is said to have demanded at least Rs 5 lakh to do a favour, which Swamy refused.

Ultimately, the officer had settled for Rs one lakh after much bargain. Swamy had filed a complaint with the Lokayukta. He was caught red-handed while accepting money from a middleman.

It is said that the City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari had received such complaints nearly four times in his Janata Darshan programme.

The ACP was warned and even transferred some four months ago. However, he managed to hold back, the sources said.
