“There are no instances of Naseer Ahmed, a sitting member, visiting any local body in the district in the past six years. He has neither taken part in any public programme, government-sponsored functions or progress review meetings at any point of time. He even stayed away from the programme to mark the carving out of Chikkaballapur district,” Gowda alleged at a press meet here, recently.

Questioning the contribution of Naseer Ahmed during his term, Gowda said that even Union Minister for Law and Justice Veerappa Moily and Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa were visiting their constituency amidst their tight schedule. However “Naseer even doesn’t know the local body to which he has released his grants,” he chided. He alleged that the contribution of the MLC to the drought-hit district is a zilch.

Little understanding

Calling upon the voters to exercise their franchise only upon getting information on the development works executed with MLC grants, Gowda charged Naseer with contesting elections for “fun.”

While there is little understanding between Congress and JD(S), both the parties have entered into a poll pact. Such parties cannot ensure development, he claimed.

BJP district unit spokesperson Baluvanahalli Lokesh, Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee president Chandrashekhar, BJP leaders P A Raghu, Venkatesha Mayya and others were present on the occasion.
