Home-alone woman found murdered

A home-alone elderly woman was found murdered at her house in Bansawadi on Tuesday.

The police identified the victim as Mary Lukose, a resident of Kacharakanahalli near Jyothi school.

According to the police, Mary was staying alone in the two-storey house. She used to rent out seven rooms in the building on daily rent.

Police said that two visitors took a room on rent around 9 am.

They went out for lunch and found Mary dead on the floor when they returned. The two alerted the police immediately.

The assailants had gagged her and tied her hands and legs and there were ligature marks on her neck. 

Investigators said that the murder could have been committed by known persons. All valuables were found intact. Motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. A special team has been constituted to nab the culprits, added the police.

Mary’s husband, a manager at a poultry farm, died seven years. She has two sons, who stay separately in the same area, added the police.

Chain snatcher held

A construction labourer was nabbed by the public while trying to flee after snatching a gold chain from a woman on Tuesday in JP Nagar V phase.

According to police, the accused Prakash, 28, a native of Tamil Nadu, in an inebriated state saw Rashmi, a home maker drawing Rangoli in front of her house. 

Noticing none around he snatched the gold chain and started running but Rashmi raised an alarm alerting her husband and neighbours, who gave chase, nabbed and handed him over to police.

The accused could not escape as he was in an inebriated stage. A liquor bottle was found in his pocket.
