Fernandes, 35, was sent for a medical examination by the police on Wednesday in the rape investigation. A wannabe politician, Fernandes contested and lost the state Assembly election as a local party candidate in 2007. He was granted anticipatory bail by the Margao sessions court on Tuesday on the condition that he made himself available to the crime branch for investigations.
“We will move the high court on Thursday for cancellation of bail,” SP A Deshpande said.
The Russian girl had complained that she felt threatened as the accused was politically connected.
