A disabled man was found with his throat slit at his sister’s home in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar on Sunday.

Police said they have identified the suspects and a search for them has been launched. But the exact motive behind the murder would be ascertained only after the arrests, they said.

Vicky, 25, was murdered at the house in A-Block of Hanuman Mandir Road in New Ashok Nagar. He lives with his mother at Sector-5 of Noida, but had temporarily shifted to his sister’s rented accommodation recently as their mother had left for their native village for a few days.

The body was discovered by his sister Meena who works for a private company in Noida. Meena was alerted by her landowner who called her to inform that the door of her house was open and no one was inside.

“Meena rushed home at about 7.30 pm and found Vicky lying dead on a bed in one of the rooms. His throat was slit and there was blood all over in the room,” said a police officer.

She raised an alarm and neighbours rushed the victim to a nearby hospital. He was declared brought dead by doctors there. Vicky was disabled in one leg and was unemployed. He was alone at the house when the attack took place, his sister told police.

Preliminary investigations show he was attacked with a kitchen knife lying in the house.  There appeared to be almost no resistance offered by Vicky during the attack, said police.

Robbery ruled out

Robbery has been ruled out as a possible reason behind the murder as no household items appeared to be touched and nothing was found missing.

“Some people known to the victim has his hand in the murder. We have identified them, but they have fled. We will nab them soon,” said the officer.

Police sources said Meena has spoken about her family’s property dispute with some people and has suspected their hand in it. Police are questioning Meena and a some neighbours.

A case of murder has been registered at New Ashok Nagar police station and the body sent for post-mortem.
