One held with counterfeit notes

The accused, Ebenezer, 43, of DJ Halli was caught, when he paid a fake Rs 500 for the purchase of clothes at a store on M K Street.

The shop owner, Jainulla, grew suspicious and informed the police, who rushed to the shop and arrested him. He confessed that he had paid another Rs 500 note to a fruit merchant at RMS Circle.

He said that he got these notes from one Palani of Katpadi in Tamil Nadu. Police said that he also admitted that he had circulated fake notes in petrol bunks and shops in DJ Halli and Kaval Byrasandra.

Burglary attempt

Burglars made a futile bid to burgle a foreign exchange office on Queen’s Road in the Shivajinagar police limits on Thursday night. The burglary attempt came to light when the staff of Weizmann Forex came for duty on Friday.

Police said the burglars broke open the window grills to gain entry, ransacked the office and tried to open the iron cupboard where about Rs 4.5 crore was kept, but failed.

Man killed in accident

A morning walker was killed in a road accident in the Devanahalli traffic police limits on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Uday Kumar (49). He was running a provisional store in Devanahalli.

Kumar, was knocked down by a speeding motorist in front of the police station. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital and was later shifted to Mallya hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
