Corporate houses told to adopt public works

Mayor B S Satyanarayana on Thursday appealed to corporate houses at Electronic City to adopt certain public works in City as part of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) Namma Bangalore Nanna Koduge project (NBNK) (Our Bangalore, My Contribution).

Addressing a group of industrialists at the launch of NBNK project in Electronics City, he said there are many projects in the City, which major corporate houses could adopt. “You have been sponsoring many projects in different parts of the City and country.

I request you to sponsor some important projects such as maintenance of parks, schools, playgrounds, beautification of City and sponsoring teachers in BBMP schools,” Satyanarayana said.

Commissioner M Lakshminarayana said, “NBNK is a platform where you can also contribute to Bangalore's civic requirement. There are many lakes, BBMP hospitals, schools, colleges, parks and playgrounds in City, which you can adopt and develop.”

Representatives of 42 major corporate houses, who participated in the event, hailed the BBMP for coming out with the NBNK project and urged the Mayor to hold many such meetings in the City to encourage business houses to support such causes.

Chief executive officer of the Electronic City Industries’ Association Rama N S and MLA M Krishnappa too addressed the gathering.
