Indian cinema addressing modern urban realities: Ranbir Kapoor

"Rocket Singh is a fresh Indian film, the sort seldom seen in Indian cinema. Youngsters, especially academic underachievers and all who aspire to be achievers, will relate to my character at some level," Ranbir, who was here to attend the world premiere of his film on Wednesday at the sixth edition of Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).
Describing Dubai as a second home for most Indians, he said that Indian films are gaining great response from the region with the Arab world and India sharing cultural similarities.

'Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year' is directed by Shimit Amin, the acclaimed director of Shahrukh Khan starrer 'Chak De India', and has been scripted by Jaideep Sahni, both of whom joined Ranbir for the film's premiere here.

"'Rocket Singh' marks a new approach to Indian film making, and is an attempt at discovering modern urban realities, marked by humour," Dorothee Wenner, Programmer of 'Celebration of Indian Cinema' segment at DIFF, said.
"This film is a true rediscovery of the realities of today, and has universal appeal," Wenner said.
The film is the story of a fresh graduate with grades that are nothing to brag about. But that does not stop him from joining the ambitious and burgeoning urban workforce, armed with a belief in himself and dreaming of a great career.
