Report civic issues using NDMC's new mobile app

Now you are only a click away from reporting a malfunctioning street light or poor maintenance of roads to NDMC.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will shortly launch a photo-based mobile application to give a channel to address regular grievances of the public in the city. Residents and tourists can take a picture of any case of poor amenities in the NDMC area and alert the council of the same through the app. 

“Using state of art and globally competitive technology, the application will be launched soon to improve the quality of life in the NDMC area for residents, visitors and tourists,” said Jalaj Shrivastava, chairperson of NDMC.

The application will help people address problems like malfunctioning of street lights, dirty streets or any other civic issue, added Shrivastava.

The council is also planning to start Wi-Fi facility in Khan Market in the first phase. The facility will be available in the other popular markets like Connaught Place, Dilli Haat and Sarojini Nagar in the second phase.  

While the internet speed will be around 5 mbps, the bandwidth will be set after a month of observation. People will be able to use the internet for free for the first 15 minutes. After that, nominal charges will be applied.

Another unique initiative will be a smart card that can be used to pay parking, water and electricity charges in the NDMC area, said the chairperson. The cards can be recharged at a minimum rate of Rs 100.

Ten per cent discount will also be available at parking facilities.

To attract bigger crowd to its gardens, NDMC has decided to keep parking at Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park and Talkatora Garden be open till 11 pm. 

There will also be events like animated movies for children and short films on Delhi’s cultural heritage in these parks.
