More than 600 participants with over sixty breeds of dogs turned up to prove their class and mettle at the competition. Among the participants were popular breeds such as the Doberman, the pug, and the German shepherd. Also present were some rare species such as the Douge De Bordeaux, Fila Brasileiro, Bedlington Terrier, and Kerry Blue Terrier, all of which had the crowds raving.

The star attraction of the event was the dogs of the Indian breed that included the Mudhol hound, Rajapalyam and Chippparai. A panel of eight judges that included five foreign judges adjudged the dogs based on certain pre-set standards. The criteria of judgement involved numerous external features like smell, audible range and obedience trials.

The dogs were awarded based on different groups with various titles like Best Puppy, Best in Show Indian Breed and Best In Show. Several other events in the show included the handling skills of ladies and children between the age group of 8-16. Several stalls were also put up, giving a platform for the pet related organisations to trade their products.

The show was inaugurated by the City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari and  Dr Suresh Honappagol, Vice-Chancellor Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Bidar. Along with the regular Annual Championship the club also organised the International Dog show for Kennel club of India’s eighth FCI (Federation Cynology International) for the first time in Bangalore.
