No momentum in monsoon yet

Intermittent rain continued to lash Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday. Though the sky remained overcast the whole day, Mangalore received moderate rain accompanied by lightning in the evening.

In the last 24 hours, Moodbidri received the highest of 50.2 mm rain, followed by Puttur—26.9 mm, Mangalore—22.3 mm, Bantwal—21.4 mm, Kadaba—15.2 mm, Belth­an­g­ady— 2.8 mm, Karwar — 5.6 mm and Sullia— 4 mm.

Following rain on Tuesday night, a foot bridge at Sangadibailu in Moodbidri collapsed. The residents were using the foot bridge to go to Iruvail and Konnepadavu.  
Drizzle in Malnad

Malnad and the hilly areas of Chikmagalur experienced drizzling. But, the monsoon has not advanced much. In the last 24 hours, Kottigehara received 51 mm rain, followed by Kerekatte —37 mm, Kigga— 22 mm and Mudigere —18.2 mm.

Several parts of Shimoga district received intermittent rains on Wednesday. Sagar, Shik­aripur, Sorab, Tirthahalli, Bha­dravathi, Hosanagar and Shimoga received showers in the evening. The moderate rain that started around 5 pm in Shimoga city lasted for 20 minutes. It rained again aro­u­nd 8 pm.

Madikeri, Somwarpet, Gonikoppa, Siddapura and Ammathi in Kodagu received rain. No damages have been reported so far. Monsoon has been delayed by 10 days in Kodagu and there is no sign of it yet.
