JOIN US A 20-year-old youth was hacked to death in the middle of the road near Siddharatha Layout in Kath-riguppe early Saturday morning. The police have identified the victim as Chandrashekar alias Swamy, a resident of Siddhartha Layout. He was unemployed and lived with his father and grandmother.
Around 1 am, a few youths knocked on the door of his house while he was sleeping and asked him to come out to discuss certain issues. They took him a few metres away from the house and brutally attacked him with weapons. Chandrashekar suffered severe head injuries and collapsed on the ground. On noticing people coming out of their houses after hearing the victim’s cries, the gang took to their heels, said the police.
Chandrashekar’s father and neighbours rushed him to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The police who visited the spot said that they suspected an old rivalry behind the murder. They said they had a few vital clues about the assailants and they would be arrested soon. The CK Achukattu police are investigating.
