A teenaged girl was found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district on Thursday.
Although the family members of the girl apprehended the possibility of rape, the police said that prima facie it looked to be a case of suicide. According to reports, the girl had been missing since Wednesday night.
Villagers found her body hanging from a tree not very far from her village. One person has been detained by the police for interrogation. The police said that it appeared to be a case of suicide. “The body has been sent for post-mortem examination... tests will be carried out to ascertain if she was raped,” said an official.
Police officials also disputed the claim of a woman, who had alleged that she had been raped by a police inspector and some other cops inside a police station in UP’s Hamirpur district a few days ago. “The accused inspector was not present at Hamirpur when the alleged incident had occurred,” said the officials.
