Last Updated 24 June 2014, 13:28 IST

A local court today granted permission to the CBI to conduct narco analysis, polygraphy and brain mapping tests of family members of two dalit girls, who were allegedly raped, killed and hanged, and witnesses in the case.

Two witnesses and two family members, both fathers of the girls, in their statements before DSP (CBI) Vijay Kumar Shukla, the Investigation Officer, gave their consent for the tests, said Assistant District Government Counsel (ADGC) Gyan Swaroop Gupta.

On the basis of their statements, the IO had moved an application yesterday before Additional District Judge S N Tripathi and the court summoned all the four to know their willingness or otherwise for the tests.

The IO produced today all the four persons before the court which enquired, one by one, about their willingness to undergo the tests.

Gupta said all the four gave their consent after which the ADJ gave permission to the CBI to conduct the tests.

The two teenage dalit girls, both cousins, were allegedly raped, killed and hanged in Katra Sadatganj area in Badaun district in May this year, triggering nationwide outrage.
The Uttar Pradesh government had recommended a CBI probe into the incident.
