JOIN USLokayukta Police arrested two revenue department officials for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe.
The accused, Senior Assistant Shivaprakash and Junior Assistant Basavaraj, allegedly demanded bribe to process official work.
The complainant M Umesh, an advocate, had filed an application with revenue department on behalf of his client. The complainant stated that his client was granted government land which was unsuitable for cultivation.
He had filed an application seeking permission to sell his land. Umesh had been to revenue department several times and on June 19 accused Shivaprakash allegedly demanded bribe to put up the file. Based on Umesh's complaint a trap was laid and on Tuesday evening, Junior Assistant Basavaraj was arrested while accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 on behalf of Shivaprakash.
The accused were produced before the Lokayukta special court and remanded to judicial custody.
