The addition of new books, digitisation of libraries and training of teaching faculty is expected to draw school children towards libraries.
Commission member secretary Dr M K Sridhar said that the State government would take up the pilot project in 450 high schools. Libraries in those schools would be developed as model libraries and later libraries of other schools would be upgraded on similar lines.
The working group on Library and Knowledge Networks of the Commission has drafted the recommendations. The State government is expected to soon take a decision on the amount to be spent on the scheme and expanding it to schools across the State.
