Govt raises tomato support price

Nearly 1,392 farmers had applied for support price of which 385 applications have  rejected while 365 have been sent for reconsideration, he added.

He was speaking to mediapersons after attending Zilla panchayat progress review meet here on Saturday.

During survey of the Yeragol project which will provide the drinking water to the City it was suggested to reduce the height of the dam. And hence 100 acres of the proposed land wouldn’t be acquired, Setty expressed. The project will be completed in 18 months, he added.

As many as 19,337 people have been covered under Sandya Suraksha by entertaining 3,230 applications, expressed Setty who said that facilities would be extended shortly to all the beneficiaries. Earlier only 30 beneficiaries were included in the scheme from Srinivaspur taluk where a large numbers poor people are inhabited.

But now 1,000 people are being covered under the scheme,  he added.

A 600 crore plan has been submitted to Centre to solve the drinking water crisis faced by the City. The approval is awaited, said Setty. Temporary alternate arrangements will be made to supply water till the plan secures approval, he added.

Ten acres of land would be acquired in the vicinity of the Suvarna gramas where houses would be constructed for the villagers by government, noted Setty.

It is ideal to start the Horticulture University in Srinivaspur as mango growers dominate the region. However there are talks of establishing it at Chintamani where 500 acres of land is available, the minister added.

The SNR hospital in the City would be upgraded and 5 dialysis units would be established as the labour cases have increased to 300 from 150.

A vehicle would be provided to each unit and Arogya Kavacha scheme will launched by June end.

Compensation

 A compensation cheque of Rs 25,000 was personally handed to Nallapa father of  Siddanahalli Ramachandra who was recently murdered by Minister Krishnaiah Setty.

A compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh would be provided to the victim’s family. Under Ashraya scheme Rs 55,000 would also be provided, he added.

Assistant Commissioner M S Archana, SP K S Puttaswamy, Additional Deputy Commissioner K M Chandre Gowda, ZP CEO A V Rajagopala Rao, Surgeon Srinivas, District Health Officer Ramesh Babu and others were present.
