BJP leader Giriraj looted of Rs 1.5 cr; MP refuses to claim recovered cash

The Patna Police on Tuesday cracked the high-profile robbery case in the state capital in which miscreants looted cash and valuables from the residence of controversial BJP MP Giriraj Singh.

But what has raised many an eyebrow is the recovery of Rs 1.5 crore cash, besides looted jewellery and dollars. After the recovery of looted articles and arrest of the miscreants, the MP has refrained from claiming the recovered amount.

Giriraj, who is Lok Sabha member from Bihar’s Nawada constituency, was in New Delhi attending the Parliament session when the robbery took place at his residence here between 2 and 3 pm on Monday. He complained to Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj over phone who, in turn, constituted a special team to solve the case.

In the next 20 hours the robbery case was cracked after two persons (a personal staff of the MP and a guard of that apartment) were caught red-handed carrying the cash and valuables.

Surprisingly, the MP, who used to speak on any or every topic under the sun, has become incommunicado ever since it came to light that the Rs 1.5 crore cash looted from his house has been recovered. “I am busy attending the House where Railway Budget is being presented,” Giriraj told all those who tried to contact him.

Meanwhile, the culprits, who confessed that they looted the cash and valuables from Giriraj’s house, have been sent to jail.
