Rain, winds uproot trees

Many trees were uprooted as heavy rains accompanied by gutsy winds lashed the City on Friday evening.

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike said that trees were uprooted at Sadashivanagar, Nrupathunga Road, Koramangala, Thyagarajnagar, Kundalahalli Main Road, Muneshwara Block, Palace Guttahalli, Anjanappa Garden, Kalyananagara, Indiranagara and near Pallavi Theatre.

According to Indian Meteorological Department, Bangalore Director, B Puttanna, the City is receiving rainfall under the influence of low pressure area over north west Bay of Bengal and an upper air cyclonic circulation measuring up to 7.6 kms above mean sea level. But the rainfall on Friday was less because of the presence of strong winds. At 12.30 pm, City experienced wind blowing at 36 kmph. 

He added that rainfall, coupled with occasional strong winds, would continue for the next couple of days. 

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in the City were 26.7 and 19.6 degrees Celsius. 

But rainfall till 5.30 pm was just 0.2 mm. At HAL airport the maximum and minimum temperatures were 27.6 and 18.1 degrees Celsius and no rainfall was recorded till 5.30 pm. 

At Kempegowda International Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 27.6 and 18.6 degrees Celsius, with rainfall being recorded below 0.1mm, till 5.30 pm.
