A documentary film, ‘The Resilient Bangalore Traffic Cop’ won the ‘Special Jury’ award at the second edition of Rolling Frames Short Film Festival, here on July 6.

The documentary was made by 14 students of the Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) in collaboration with the Bangalore Traffic Police. The award was handed over by T S Nagabharana, National Award Cine Director and Chairman of rolling Frames Society, said a note released to the media by the academy, on Monday.

17-minute film

The 17 minute documentary shows the other side to a traffic cop. The traffic police are often perceived as malleable and physically unfit.

The documentary takes into account a policeman’s side of the story, showing a more balanced and positive equation. It covers the hard life the traffic policemen lead, with health and safety hazards posed by the job.

Speaking on the occasion, Shajan Samuel, Senior Vice President, MAAC said, “The Rolling Frames award is an endorsement of the effort made by the students of MAAC in bringing out the other side of the Bangalore Traffic Cop. We are glad that our effort has been recognized by Rolling Frames and this award will motivate our students to attempt similar projects in the future as well.”

Rolling Frames is in its second edition and is supported by Suchitra Film Society and Karnataka Film Federation.

This year as many as 298 films participated, of which 17 films were selected for screening.
