A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 16-year-old-boy at a village off Kanakapura Road under the Thalaghattapura police station limits.

According to the police, the girl was raped on July 18, but the incident came to light on July 19.

The victim’s parents, daily wage workers, told the police that they took their child to St John’s Hospital for treatment for urinary infection.

When the doctors did a checkup, they found injuries on her private parts and informed her parents she had been raped.

The parents returned to the village and informed the members of the village panchayat and the village elders about the incident.

But the parents were not happy about the decision taken by the village elders and approached the police on Tuesday afternoon and filed a complaint, added the police.

The police said that the locals claimed that they found the boy, the suspect, along with the girl at the victim’s house while their parents were away at work.

The locals were not aware of the incident till the victim’s parents informed the elders in the village.

The news spread after a complaint was filed and when the police went to the village and questioned a few locals.

The residents claimed the boy had removed the girl’s clothes and when they questioned him, he told them the girl wanted to answer the call of nature and so he helped her by removing the clothes, the officer said.

“The girl had undergone surgery for a hole in the heart just around three months ago. She had also developed urinary infection and was being treated for the condition.

During a checkup, the doctors realised she was raped. A case has been registered at the Thalaghattapura police station and the girl is being monitored by the doctors to make sure she does not develop any health complications,” said a senior police officer.

The suspect is said to be jobless, spending his time roaming around. His background is being checked and also the police are checking if he is involved in any other crimes, said the officer. The police are on the lookout for the suspect.

South Korean held

The Chikkajala police claimed to have arrested a South Korean national for raping a minor for more than a decade.

The suspect was identified as Do Wong Choi, a resident of Kammanahalli, who runs Peace House, an orphanage located at Byrathi Bande in Kothanur.

The police managed to pick him up more than a year after a complaint was lodged against him.

It is said Choi had been overstaying in India even after the expiry of his visa.

He is accused of having been involved in a few cheating cases and land disputes.

The police have contacted the Regional Registration Officer to ascertain Choi’s visa details, said a senior police officer.

In a plaint lodged a year ago, the victim stated that she was brought to Choi’s orphanage when she was just an eight-year-old girl in 1996 after her mother died. Choi sexually assaulted her in 2003 and raped her for more than a decade, she alleged.

The victim fell in love with a youth and married him later.

The couple have two children. Her husband deserted her after he learnt Choi had raped her for 10 years.

She then left the orphanage and lodged a complaint against Choi, police said.
