SC seeks Delhi govt's response on Subrata's plea

The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Delhi government to tell if it was possible to provide a venue to Sahara chief Subrata Roy within the Tihar jail complex here to facilitate negotiations with prospective buyers of his properties.

Roy, in jail since March 4, pleaded for shifting him to the jail guest house for a week to interact and conduct a video conference with those interested in the properties required to be sold to arrange Rs 10,000 crore for securing his bail.

A three-judge bench of Justices T S Thakur, A R Dave and A K Sikri asked the government to talk to jail authorities to explore the venue but made it clear that the arrangement would be done only for holding negotiations and not for giving any comfort to him.

The bench asked the Delhi government to respond by July 30. Roy also sought permission to use computer with internet connection for the purpose.
