JD(S) to stage protest in Koppa

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, JD(S) state vice-president H T Rajendra said that the Hirekere development work was commenced without informing the opposition in the town panchayat. JD(S) members in the panchayat had demanded inquiry as there was misappropriations in the dredging work, he added.

Rajendra alleged that MLA is showing arrogant attitude by making town panchayat his puppet. “Town does not see development. Instead of that only followers of MLA are developing personall,” he criticised.

Though rules mandate contractors to dump dredged soil in areas where there is no trees, contractors have already destroyed more than 20 trees by dumping soil in forest, Rajendra said.

It is unfortunate that the Forest Department too did not take any action against the violators, he added.
