KPSC whistle-blower thanks Siddaramaiah

Dr H P S Mythri, whistle-blower of the KPSC scam, on Saturday met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and expressed gratitude for taking the decision to withdraw the 2011 notification on the appointment of 362 gazetted probationary officers following alleged irregularities.

She met the chief minister at his home office ‘Krishna’ along with her friend R Renukambika, who failed in the controversial KPSC examination. The decision was a historical one and the government has demonstrated that it was against corruption, Mythri later told reporters.

She said the decision will go a long way in cleansing the corrupt system and providing justice to honest and meritorious students. The CID investigation has exposed how the system was rotting in the KPSC, she added.

Asked about JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy’s opposition to the government’s decision, Mythri, who had topped the examination in ST category, said he has to clarify his intention in opposing the government. “Kumaraswamy has immense experience in administration. I want to ask him (Kumaraswamy) whether he supports corruption,” she stated.

Later, about 50 youth, who had appeared for the controversial KPSC examinations, met Siddaramaiah and thanked him for the decision to cancel the appointments.

Meanwhile, Congress legislators H M Revanna and V S Ugrappa, who are close aides of Siddaramaiah, strongly defended the government’s decision and warned opposition parties, the JD(S) and the BJP, that people will teach them a lesson for ‘supporting corruption’.

The opposition parties had, in the State legislature, demanded that the government take tough measures to cleanse the KPSC of corruption. They remained silent when the CID found the entire selection process flawed.

When the government acted on the CID report, they are opposing it, he said. Ugrappa alleged that one of the persons involved in corruption in the KPSC, Amarnath, was a JD(S) worker. He was the right hand man of the then KPSC chairman Gonal Bhimappa, he alleged.
