In a spate of suicides reported in the City in the past 36 hours, four persons including a doctor ended lives.

A doctor allegedly committed suicide at his apartment in Kodigehalli on Friday. Police identified the victim as Basavaraj, 47, a doctor at Food Safety and Standard Authority of India.

According to police, the doctor was leading a solitary life after being separated from his wife a couple of years back.

The incident came to light when the driver came on Saturday morning to pick up Basavaraj.

After several attempts to reach his master on his mobile phone failed to yield results, the driver peeped through the window, only to find Basavaraj hanging from the ceiling. The driver alerted the police, who shifted the body for post-mortem. It is suspected that loneliness and depression might have forced him to end his life.

Investigation is being carried out to know the exact reason for suicide, added police.

The incident came to light when her husband returned home. The reason for suicide is yet to be ascertained, said police.
