Four arrested for youth's murder

According to the police, Puneeth, Raghu, both 20, Girish (21) and Naveen (22), residents of Peenya, had picked up a quarrel with 26 year-old Ashok near Ganesh Temple when he was returning home, along with his friends, from a cricket match. Ashok had scolded Puneeth over some matter for which he reacted harshly and took him to task. Later Puneeth followed Ashok and assaulted the latter on the chest with a knife and sped away, the police said.

Minor girl raped

A middle-aged man allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl at Janaki Ram Layout in Lingarajpuram near Banaswadi railway station on Monday evening.

An inebriated Barkat allegedly committed the crime on the girl who lives next door and was out to fetch water, police said.

Chain snatchers held

The Cottonpet police have arrested three persons for allegedly indulging in chain snatching and recovered four gold chains worth Rs 1.50 lakh. The arrested have been identified as Jalaluddin of Parvathipuram, Arshad of Motinagar and Saleem of Kalasipalya.

The trio had robbed lone women of their gold chains in Cottonpet, Tilaknagar and Basavanagudi. They were arrested recently while they were moving about suspiciously in Cottonpet, the police said.

Women commit suicide

A 23-year-old woman hanged herself at her Jargenahalli residence in JP Nagar on Sunday. The deceased Hamsaveni was married to Lokesh three years ago. The couple had a daughter. Lokesh who was into sand business was harassing his wife for dowry, the police said.

In a similar case, Vijayalaxmi (30) wife of Nandish committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at her Banagiri Nagar residence in CK Achukatu.

Asst manager waylaid

A telecommunications assistant manager was robbed of his valuables by two persons near Nayandahalli railway station here on Saturday night.

Rajshekharmurthy (36), a  resident of Metro Layout near Chandra Layout, was waylaid when he was heading towards the railway station at around 11.30 pm. They made away with his 10 gm gold chain, Rs 3,000 cash besides credit and debit cards.
