JOIN USA Karthik, 22, was arrested by Yeshwanthpur police on Friday night for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl.
According to the police, Karthik, a mechanic and a resident of Yeshwanthpura was in a relationship with the victim, 17, a II PUC student for the past three months.
On September 2, the victim did not return home after college. The worried parents searched for her in vain. They lodged a police complaint.
A senior police officer added that they started tracking the victim’s mobile phone and found that she had eloped with Karthik to Kanyakumari. “The police picked up the victim and arrested the accused and his uncle who helped them elope.”
The police said that the victim alleged Karthik of abducting and sexually assaulting her.
The police have booked the accused under Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 376 (rape) of IPC.
