MP and Former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has said that he will adopt Gangolli village in Baindur legislative assembly constituency to develop into a model village.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, he said “I will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. The PM in his address on Independence Day has called upon the Members of Parliament  to adopt one village of their choice.”

Plans have been prepared to develop Gangolli at an estimated cost of Rs 29 crore.  The Rs 166.5  crore project chalked out for the development of coastal region, including Shiroor, Madikal, Maravanthe and Gangolli of Baindur will be taken up on a priority basis in the coming days.

A review meeting will be held in Baindur in order to discuss the problems faced by the people in coastal region.

He questioned the existence of the State government in Karnataka. The problems of the people are unheard by the officials and ministers.

The state government has failed to send an estimate report to the centre on the loss incurred following drought and flood in the state.

The state government should come to the rescue of the farmers who have lost their crops due to natural calamities, he urged.

“The Chief Minister has decided to visit the flood-hit areas only after I announced through media about my visit to the flood-hit areas,” he said.

Former CM said that he will tour the flood and drought hit taluks in the state from Tuesday. “I will also tour across the state to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.”

“There have been fluctuations in the price of rubber due to the existing import policy. This has been brought to my notice by growers,” he said and added that he, along with the MP of the region, will urge the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister to change the import policy to suit the rubber growers in the domestic market.

He said that he will impress upon the officials on the pathetic condition of the national highways in the district and initiate measures to repair the roads.
