The petitioner, Thoufiq, a driver had married Sahana, daughter of B Satish, a resident of Thirthahalli against the wishes of her parents.

The duo had eloped to Sindhanur to get married. However she went missing from December 6. The petitioner alleged that she was forcibly taken back by her parents.

When the complaint to the Police did not yield results, the petitioner filed a habeas corpus petition before the Court. The division bench headed by Justice K L Manjunath has ordered notice to Home Secretary, SP Shimoga and Thirthahalli Police.

In another case, the High Court has directed the investigating officer to be present before the Court over a missing girl. The petitioner, Shiva Prasad Shetty, resident of Naringhama in Bantwal taluk had moved the High Court over the missing of his sister Ramya Shetty.

According to the petitioner, Mohammed, a forty year old person, who is already married and has three children has brainwashed his sister and has eloped with her to Kanaje in Kerala where he has married her after converting her to Islam.

The Court in its earlier hearing had directed to file a report in this regard. However on finding the report is not satisfactory, the Court lashedout at the Police and directed the investigating officer to be present before the Court.
