Woman sets self, three daughters on fire

Frustrated over her husband’s addiction to liquor, a 38-year-old woman allegedly killed her three daughters by setting them ablaze before immolating herself at a village in the district, police said.

Two of the girls, aged ten and 18, were killed on the spot while their 16-year-old sister died on way to hospital on Sunday night, they said. The woman succumbed to burns at the Rajaji Government Hospital in Madurai on Monday.

The woman, wife of an autorickshaw driver of Karaikudi in Sivaganga District, took the extreme step following frequent quarrels with her husband over his addiction to liquor, police said.
