Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Kumar recalled this hilarious advertisement at Hasyotsava, organised by Koravanji-Aparanji Trust in Bangalore on Friday.
The trust has been organising the event for the last 15 years.
Beluru Ramamurthy who anchored the programme, narrated one of the humourous incidents from the minister’s life that Suresh Kumar himself had written in a newspaper recently. When he was corporator of Bangalore City Corporation, he used to meet his voters regularly going around his ward in a bicycle to listen to problems faced by the public and attend to them.
During one such visits, he met an elderly person who welcomed the corporator inside his home for a cup of coffee.
As Suresh wanted to know what was his problem, he called all his four daughters and said he would be grateful if Suresh agreed to marry one of his daughters. (Of course, Suresh did not marry any one of them)
A host of artists, humourists entertained the audience with pun-filled speeches.
The programme was dedicated to writer, theatre artist late H K Ranganath.
Lexicographer Prof G Venkatasubbaiah, artist Yamuna Murthy and several others recalled the contributions of Ranganath to All India Radio and theatre.
