Vinoth gave Karnataka the lead in the 25th minute before R Mohan found the back of the net to swell the lead in the 64th minute. Vinoth sealed the win with the teams third and his second of the day in the 82nd minute.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu, Manipur and Mizoram moved into the quarterfinal-league stage with wins in their respective matches.
In the first match of the day, TN posted a dominating 6-0 win against the hapless Chattisgarh.
Ameer Uddin (26th, 50th), S Karthik (43rd, 77th) scored a brace each for TN while Arun Murugan (14th) and Mukesh (89th) scored one each. Manipur held off a late challenge from Kerala to win 4-2. N Joy Kumar (20th), N Rakesh (41st), Gkubai (56th) and Lal Gogocha (66th) gave Manipur a commanding lead. Aleye Payil (84th, 90+) gave Kerala glimpse of hope with his brace but wasn’t enough to alter the course of the match.
