Couple held for murder

A couple, Reshma, 30, and Muktiyar, 45, residents of MG Palya Main Road, were arrested by Kalasipalya police, in connection with the recent murder of a small-time financier.

The couple murdered Samiullah of the same locality over an affair and financial dispute.

Police said Samiullah had lent money to Reshma and was having an affair with her. A few months ago, he started demanding money, which she found difficult to repay.

Hatching a conspiracy to murder him, she disclosed to her husband that Samiullah sexually exploited her as she could not repay the loan. The two decided to murder him, police said.

Reshma requested Samiullah to meet her on the night of October 3 so that she can repay the money. He came to Kalasipalya Main Road where the couple beheaded him in front of RK Lodge, packed the severed head in a plastic cover and abandoned it on the roadside.

The night patrol police noticed stray dogs taking away the plastic cover. They then found the severed  head, police said.

The police placed advertisements regarding the unidentified body in newspapers. 

Samiullah's brother Sadique approached the police. Based on the description of his brother’s physical features given by Sadique, the identity of the body was established, police said.
