Stern action against builders, officials for illegal constructions

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the newly constructed BMTC bus station at Yelahanka 5th phase (New Town) here, Ashok said: “The Akrama-Sakrama scheme that is being implemented has begun to rectify the irregularities. Henceforth, all new constructions will have to adhere to regulations. Even officials will not be spared for allowing illegal constructions.”

He also informed that the Lake Development Authority has begun to renovate and develop 40 lakes, out of a total of 150 in the City.

New terminal
The new bus station, spread over one acre and four guntas, has been constructed at a cost of Rs 97 lakh. Ashok also said that the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) would soon begin the renovation process at the bus station in Yelahanka old town.
“There is a paucity of space at the old bus and we are acquiring the government school grounds measuring two acres  near the bus station for this,” he said.

He also announced that the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will soon hand over land to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited to begin construction work at the Kempegowda Bus Station in Majestic.

He also announced that the BMTC will increase its fleet from the present 6,560 buses to 10,000 in the next four years.
