JOIN USA 15-year-old girl, who was brought to the capital from Bangladesh for prostitution, has been rescued in east Delhi’s Mandawali. Police have arrested two traffickers, but a woman who ‘purchased’ the girl from her father is absconding.
Police said the traffickers had also finalised a deal to sell the girl to a gang in France, but she managed to escape on Wednesday.
She went to Karkardooma Court and narrated her ordeal to a man who helped her approach police.
“The girl was brought to Mandawali police station after which a case was registered over her statement,” said a police officer.
Father sold her
She told police that her father had sold her to a woman named Akhtar, a resident of south-east Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin, around two years ago.
It is alleged that Akhtar is part of an international gang of traffickers with a man named Alamgir.
Initially, she was kept in Kolkata, where she was forced into prostitution.
“The girl claims she was threatened of being killed and thrashed when she refused to accept the orders of the gang,” the officer added.
Around six months back, the girl was brought to the capital where she was sold to a man named Rajkumar in east Delhi’s Vinod Nagar.
She was also forced into prostitution in Delhi.
Recently, she was ‘sold’ to an international gang in France through a deal struck on
WhatsApp.
Sources said, for the deal, Akhtar posed as the girl’s mother, while Alamgir her father. They had also prepared four passports for a trip to France.
The girl decided to flee from a house in Mandawali when she learnt about the deal.
Two arrested
Police later arrested Alamgir and Rajkumar, while raids are being conducted to nab Akhtar.
Police suspect that the gang may have purchased or kidnapped several teenage girls for their activities and even sold them abroad.
A case under sections 370 (buying or disposing of any person as a slave), 376 (rape) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC has been filed with Mandawali police station.
Rape charge
The accused also face charges under Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences Act. The girl alleged that she was also raped on several occasions by Alamgir and Rajkumar.
