Congress candidate in J&K embroiled in sex-for-job scandal

Just ahead of crucial Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, a senior Congress leader and a former minister’s purported telephone conversation, in which the former is seeking sexual favours in return for a job, has gone viral on social networking sites and chat applications.

The controversy has left the Congress red-faced ahead of the polls. No party leader was ready to speak on the issue.

The taped conversation of the Congress candidate from north Kashmir’s Rafiabad constituency revolves around the leader insisting on sexual favours from the girl seeking a job.

“I want to celebrate our relationship, and I want to get close to you,” the leader was reportedly heard telling the girl, who in turn reminded him of the promise of a job, to which he said he would fulfil it only after she came to him.

The leader is further heard telling the girl to swear that she loved him. The girl said she was hearing such things for the first time, and hence was feeling shy. The leader repeatedly asked the girl when she would come to him. “When will you come to me? I will do everything after you come to me.”

He was also reportedly heard telling the girl: “Kiss me. I will keep that thing (apparently referring to condoms) ready when you come to me.”

The controversy has surfaced at a time when the Congress is struggling to stop the BJP juggernaut in the state.
