Suspect held, no action against 2 more involved

 A 20-year-old woman alleged that she was raped after being taken to a hotel in central Delhi’s Paharganj on Wednesday. The accused has been arrested, police said.

The victim is a resident of Nabi Karim in central Delhi. In her complaint, she told police that her friend Meenakshi had taken her to a hotel on the pretext of attending a birthday party.

Meenakshi’s boyfriend Sunny and his cousin Pradeep were already there in the room. The woman claimed that the four of them had a chat after which the men started consuming alcohol.

“It is alleged that Meenakshi and Sunny forced the victim to drink alcohol after which Pradeep raped her,” said a police officer. She also lost consciousness after sometime.

The woman left the hotel after she gained consciousness and approached police. Her statement was recorded by Paharganj police station and her medical examination confirmed rape. Pradeep was subsequently arrested.

Pradeep hails from Ludhiana and came to Delhi to meet Sunny. The victim has alleged that the entire incident was pre-planned by Meenakshi and Sunny. But police have not taken any action against them. Sunny also lives in Nabi Karim and works with a private company in Noida.

The victim and Meenakshi are pursuing graduation through correspondence from School of Open Learning. Police have checked the footage of CCTV cameras in the hotel which shows the four of them entering the hotel. The woman was seen leaving the hotel alone after three hours.

The hotel’s manager has told police that the room was booked by Sunny.
