<p>A woman sub-inspector of Delhi Police was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The CBI claims that the accused, identified as Sarla, was caught red-handed. Sarla is posted with the Crime against Women Cell at the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Ajay Kumar.<br /><br />The incident comes a week after another sub-inspector was arrested for accepting a bribe.<br /><br />“A case was registered on a complaint alleging that the sub-inspector was demanding a bribe,” said CBI spokesperson R K Gaur. It was also learnt that Sarla was allegedly threatening the complainant to get her bail cancelled in a criminal case. Sarla was the investigating officer of the case.<br /><br />“We laid a trap and the sub inspector was arrested while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000,” Gaur added. Raids have also been conducted at Sarla’s house in Ghaziabad and she will be produced before the court on Saturday.<br /><br />The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) told Deccan Herald that they have not been informed about the arrest by CBI.<br /><br />“Sarla did not report for duty on Friday and we have only heard that she has been arrested by the CBI,” the officer said.<br /><br />Police are waiting for an official confirmation and a report by the CBI to initiate action against Sarla.<br /><br />“We will also take the statement of the complainant and may file a separate case,” the officer added.<br /><br />On November 27, Delhi Police sub-inspector Dayaram was also arrested by the CBI for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. Dayaram was posted with Chanakyapuri police station.</p>
