<p>A youth has been arrested for killing a five-year-old girl in north-east Delhi’s Gokulpuri in September.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The 24-year-old had kidnapped the girl to demand ransom from her family, police said on Monday.<br /><br />Firoz lives with his family in Brijpuri. On September 30, a PCR call was received at Gokulpuri police station reporting that the girl had been missing from her house in Chand Bagh. A case of kidnapping was registered. A search was conducted, but the girl was not located.<br /><br />On October 4, an information was received at Gokulpuri police station that a body of a girl had been found near Johripur Nala. “The body was identified as that of the missing girl,” said R A Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East).<br /><br />Accordingly, section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was added in the case. The body was handed over to her family after a post-mortem on October 7 in Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.<br /><br />Thorough monitoring of CCTV camera footage was done and local intelligence was gathered after which Firoz was arrested near Brijpuri bus stand on Saturday.<br /><br />“Firoz kidnapped the girl to extort money from her parents, but smothered her when she tried to raise an alarm,” Sanjeev added. He lated dumped the body in Johripur Nala.<br /></p>
