Rape accused taxi driver booked for forgery

Last Updated 09 December 2014, 07:47 IST

A case of forgery has been slapped against taxi driver Shiv Kumar Yadav, accused in the rape of a 25-year-old business analyst, police said Tuesday.

The case was registered at north Delhi's Burari police station Tuesday morning against Yadav for submitting forged documents with the Burari Transport Authority to get a tourist permit.

On Monday, a forged character certificate purportedly issued by Delhi Police was also found from his possession.

Yadav, 32, was arrested Sunday from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh for raping the woman in north Delhi, while dropping her home Friday night.

Delhi Police are also likely to register a case of cheating against the online cab booking service, Uber, with whom Yadav was working.

The company had allegedly violated the transport rules and also not verified the driver before hiring him.
