Journalist dies of cardiac arrest

Journalist N D Shivakumar, who was working as an assistant editor with The Times of India English daily, Bengaluru, died of cardiac arrest here on Monday. He was 39.

Shivakumar is survived by wife Jayalakshmi and three-year-old daughter Sahitya.
He had been deputed to cover the proceedings of the ongoing winter session of the State Legislature in Belagavi.

Shivakumar had earlier  worked with Deccan Herald and Mid-Day dailies.

House condoles death

The Legislative Assembly on Monday condoled the death of Justice V R Krishna Iyer, journalist N D Shivakumar and former legislators N B Venkatesh and Mohammed Saifuddin.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah described as unfortunate the death of Shivakumar. “He was young and had a bright career. His untimely demise has caused immense loss to the field of journalism,” he said.

The Legislative Council, too, condoled the death of Iyer and Shivakumar.
