Last Updated 24 December 2014, 21:09 IST

Television viewers, who have opted for cable television set top box, can now opt for their favourite channels on a par with the direct to home (DTH) service as the Karnataka State Cable Television Operators Association (KSCTOA) has planned channel packages.

The service will come into force in January 2015 in Bengaluru and Mysuru. “We had a meeting with eleven Multi Service Operators (MSO) providing cables service across the State and the cable operators on Tuesday and a decision was taken to provide packages. Even the new tariff has been fixed. It will be implemented in January, 2015,” said V S Patrick, President, KSCTOA.

Patrick said as an outcome of this, the viewer will get four types of packages and they will be charged accordingly. “We will inform the subscribers through the cable as well as by distributing handbills and brochures,” he said.

The packages will range between Rs 200 and Rs 250, based on the government tax and the rates fixed by the channels. The number of channels available for viewers is 300. “The basic package will include 205 channels costing Rs 118,” he said.
