Last Updated 04 January 2010, 17:27 IST

Speaking on the occasion, DYFI district Secretary Dayananda Shetty said that only one kilometer stretch, out of the three kilometer-long road has been made concrete in the last two years. However, the two kilometer road stretch still remains in a deplorable condition. The ward corporator and the city corporation did not take initiative to asphalt the road, even after a bike rider died due to skidding in one of the potholes on the stretch recently, he added.

CPM leader Sunil Kumar Bajal said that taking up development works is the responsibility of every officials and people’s representatives. However, the District-in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar is trying to gain political mileage, even before the completion of development works. It is unfortunate that people are forced to protest for their basic necessities even after 60 years of India’s Independence, he added.
DYFI leaders Ramesh Kumar, Imthiyaz, Anil D’Souza, Ahmed Basheer, Jayakumar, Noushad, Rohith and Santhosh were present.
